5 Things to Add to your Guest Room Before Thanksgiving!

Believe it or not, we are only 9 days away from Thanksgiving! Plans have been made and menus are being thought out. If you are anything like my family--aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents will find themselves packed in the same home for a day of family fun. Growing up, I was lucky; most of my family lived within a four hour radius of my home town. For most however, this is not the case. The years that family and friends do travel or fly to visit usually means hours in a cramped car or stressful time spent at the airport. We all love to see our family, but that’s not always an appealing idea. Now, I would never say bribe your family into coming home for the holidays, but with these tips, you may have some family who regret leaving. Here are 5 ways to impress your company with a guest-room that feels just like home!

  1. New Sheets

Fresh Linens always-- while they may not notice it right away, as soon as they go to turn in for the night they will be grateful to have fresh crisp clean sheets to sleep on after hours of traveling.

2. Throws and Pillows

We all have different sleeping habits, some of us like to sleep with one pillow, others of us three. I personally am cold all the time, so I need an extra blanket or two. Some people will move throws off the bed because they don’t want to sleep under many blankets. Either way, it’s nice for your guest not to go hunting through your home for the extras. Also, when someone is not staying there it will look decorated and ready!

This chunky knit throw and fur pillow will make even the coldest room in your home cozy!

3. Fresh Flowers

There is nothing like fresh flowers to bring life to a room. It will make the room appear it is lived in and not used only 2-3 times a year.

4. Carafe of Water

This is easy and when everyone turns in for the night, water is there waiting for your guest if they happen to wake up in the middle of the night.

These vintage water bottles are really great too! They will look beautiful and are perfect for your guest room.

5. Hand Lotion

Pretty much any extras that are forgotten are a nice thing to stock—toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo & conditioner. Because of the Holidays, chances are most stores right around your home are going to be closed and who wants to go out to pick something up when they could be relaxing at home with family.

Bonus** Add a jewelry dish right next to the handsoap and lotion. Giving your guest a greay resting spot for watches, rings, and earrings.

These simple changes will make all the difference for your guest, family or friends. Look for more post about the holidays on our blog!

From our home to yours!
